He has worked for Spanish S.I. Capital, a private equity firm investing in renewable energies, where he conducted extensive research on cleantech investments and helped to organize five clean technology forums across the world, e.g. the first industry-specific seminar in Spain, which brought together start-up companies, VCs and executives for the first time. He previously worked for a electric motorcycle company and also served as an advisor to an Australian Waste to Energy company. Arun started his career as a consultant with Computer Associates on projects in India, the U.S. and various other locations. There, he has managed teams of up to 16 people. Arun holds a MBA from IESE Business School, Barcelona in 2008, where he took also the opportunity to study one term at UCLA Anderson School of Management, Los Angeles. In 2003, he finished a BE with a focus on computer science with distinction at the Rashtriya Vidhyalaya College of Engineering, Bangalore.

In this role, he is responsible for a number of initiatives at EMEA level: energy efficiency and sustainability, tracking and improving Google's energy use and footprint, and investing in large scale renewable energy projects. Prior to Google, Benjamin was a project manager with Booz Allen Hamilton in Italy for 5 years. During this time he focused mainly on projects in the CMT (Communications, Media and Technology) sector. Other experiences include work for an Italian energy utility and a solar energy startup. Prior to Booz Allen, Benjamin worked for EADS Airbus in Hamburg and Toulouse. He holds an M.Sc. in Aerospace Engineering from Munich Technical University in Germany, and an MBA from INSEAD in France. 

He co-founded GOAL Energy Inc., a public oil and gas company, serving as a Director and Vice President until a 1998 acquisition. Mr. Ironside served on the board of Tappit Resources Ltd. until a 2003 merger created Crescent Point Energy Ltd. Mr. Ironside serves on the board of Calgary Economic Development, is a member of the Young Presidents Organization, and is a past president of the local Young Entrepreneurs Organization.

 

Before joining Better Place, he served as Global Head of Capital Markets at Lazard Frères, head of investment banking for the Americas at Credit Suisse First Boston, CEO of Investment Banking at Barclays de Zoete Wedd (BZW), and head of European Equities and Equity Capital Markets at Morgan Stanley. With experience across a range of sectors, Stonehill has led financing initiatives from $20 million to $5 billion.

British Gas has lead the market in providing insulation, energy efficiency advice, solar photovoltaic installations and renewable heating. Chris is responsible for strategy and propositions including financing arrangements for Solar PV and British Gas’s £30m commitment to go early on the Government’s Green Deal energy efficiency financing programme for domestic energy efficiency. Chris has 13 years experience in finance and the environment from leading international investment banks.

Claudia graduated from the National University of La Plata in Argentina, with a degree in Chemical Engineering. She then went on to do an MBA (Master in Business Administration) at the Cass Business School in London. Following Cass, she was a Senior Analyst and Team Leader at Global CoreRatings, an independent research provider for Sustainable Investing. Claudia joined Henderson in 2002, where she was part of a three-person team managing the Global Industries of the Future fund. Claudia is a member of the CFA (Chartered Financial Analyst) Society of the UK.

Previously Colin worked within the Energy Automation field where he held various engineering roles, before moving in to management more than 10 years ago; he has held different posts within Services, Engineering and Operations Management, including overseas (Near Middle East).
Colin is a Chartered Engineer and a member of BEAMA’s Smart grid working group; he is also part of Siemens global smart grid strategy group. 

Prior to co-founding Generation in 2004, Colin was a Director at Sustainable Asset Management ("SAM") where he worked on the Dow Jones Sustainability Indexes and SAM's sustainable investment funds. He has also worked for Arthur D. Little and Total. Colin holds a BSc in International Management and Modern languages from University of Bath, UK and has completed the Corporate Finance Programme at London Business School. Colin is on the Boards of RecycleBank, Infinate Power Solutions, Business for Social Responsibility and Forest Trends. He speaks fluent French and has lived in 9 countries around the world.

Cristiano joined Fiat in 1995 as a marketing analyst and rose to the vice president level, most recently overseeing the strategy and operations of the rent-a-car and used car department for European markets. Carlutti was also in charge of the Flagship development project, a €150 million program which established a network of company-owned dealerships throughout Europe.

He also served on the Organizing Committee of the XX Winter Olympic Games in Turin, Italy. As managing director of media operations and press chief for the 2006 games, Carlutti helped to create and manage a €13 million media operation with 20 venues serving more than 3,000 journalists. Before that he was CEO of Autocontact Italia, where he was in charge of reselling and servicing more than 90,000 vehicles per year.

Cristiano has a degree in business administration from the University Luigi Bocconi in Milan, and he's lectured on business and entrepreneurship at several universities in his native Italy. He is fluent in English, French and Italian, and he has lived in Germany, Russia, Ireland and the United States.

 

Mr. Weiss has 11 years of energy investment management and related transactional experience. Prior to the formation of Angeleno Group, Mr. Weiss was an attorney at O’Melveny & Myers in Los Angeles, working in the firm’s mergers and acquisitions, international and high technology practice groups. He represented multiple Global 1000 clients, including utilities and energy-related companies, in a wide array of private equity and corporate finance transactions. Mr. Weiss also has a significant history of involvement in government, regulatory and public policy entities that deal with the energy sector including work experience in the White House and the United States Congress. Additionally, Mr. Weiss has taught, lectured and published articles on the topics of law, business and public policy. Mr. Weiss holds a J.D. from Stanford Law School, an M.A. from Stanford University and a B.A. with high honors from U.C. Berkeley.

David also serves on the board of directors of publicly traded companies Axion Power International, Inc. (OTC: AXPW); Clean Power Technologies Inc. (OTC: CPWE) Solar EnerTech Corp. (OTC: ENSL), Energy Focus, Inc.(NASDAQ: EFOI) and ThermoEnergy Corporation (OTC: TMEN).

As a former member of the Renewables Advisory Board, he has advised the UK Minister of Energy on range of renewable energy issues. David holds a Bachelor of Laws degree and Bachelor’s degree in Economics from the University of Sydney, Australia.

He worked for the Paris Metropolitan Government & in the field of trade policy and export for the French Government. He was international adviser of Economics, Finance and Industry Minister Dominique Strauss-Kahn.
He has a strong interest in Asian culture and is the author of books on economic issues. Graduate from ENA and Master in Public Government and Economics, Tersen's career has given him three major strengths: public action, international relations and business.

 

At SSE he has worked in a number of areas of the energy business and was also responsible for starting-up and running its telecoms business from 1997 to 2004.  Since 2004 he has been responsible for policy and public affairs. 
Outside SSE, he is a Director on the Board of the Scottish Renewables and is also Chairman of the Board at the UK Business Council for Sustainable Energy (UKBCSE).
Keith was appointed in 2007 as a government advisor on renewable energy policy and was recently made an Honorary Fellow of Energy Policy at the University of Exeter.

Heading Süd-Chemie’s bioethanol operations, Dr Rarbach is, among other tasks, responsible for the development and commercialization of Süd-Chemie’s sunliquid technolopgy for the conversion of cellulosic feedstock into 2nd generation bioethanol. In July 2010, Süd-Chemie announced a 16-million-euro investment in a demonstration plant in Straubing/Germany, which will be producing up to 2,000 metric tonnes of cellulosic ethanol from wheat straw per year starting in Q4, 2011.

In 1998, after working at UMIST as a post-doctoral research associate and a lecturer in the mechanical engineering department, he joined Lotus Engineering. Richard has established expertise in the areas of engine and vehicle performance prediction and pressure charging, having been recently involved in the Lotus SABRE, Range Extender, and Omnivore research programmes. He is currently a Senior Technical Specialist for Vehicle Research, in the Advanced Concepts Group and is leading Lotus’s research into vehicle life cycle energy consumption and CO2 emissions.

The most advanced products are a beautiful and cost-effective small wind turbine with aerodynamics suited to rooftop use, a hydroelectric turbine that fits inside a piping system, and a system for improving the output of large wind turbines by at least 20-40%. Dr. Farb has created over 25 PCT patents for the company, and has written over 300 books and training CDs on a variety of subjects. He has spoken as an expert on environmental topics for governments and television.

He focuses on investments in the smart grid/software, ecommerce, transportation and energy efficiency. Etienne supports portfolio companies and works on new deals throughout European and North America and is a board observer of Alertme. He joined in 2007 from McKinsey & Company, where he advised clients in the high technology, logistics and energy sectors. Etienne previously worked in a technology startup and for the UK government. He graduated from Imperial College London with an MEng in Information Systems Engineering.

Intel Capital is stage agnostic and invests in a broad range of companies offering hardware, software and services targeting enterprise, home, mobility, health, consumer Internet, semiconductor manufacturing, and cleantech. As of end of March 2010, the Intel Capital investment portfolio is valued at approximately US $2 billion.

Heiko is based in Munich, Germany. Prior to joining Intel he was a management consultant with A.T. Kearney’s high-tech & communications practice and was also working as a software engineer.
He holds a MSc. in electrical engineering from Technical University of Munich and an MBA from Insead.

In 2007, Inderpreet incorporated Azure Power, which is now a leading solar service provider in India, with a vision for creating energy security in rural India through medium-scale Solar PV generation. Inderpreet has relentlessly lobbied generation based incentives in solar sector through Clean Trade initiatives across US and India. He has been instrumental in creating India's first commercial megawatt-scale solar power plant. His work has been highlighted in top tier publications such as Wall Street Journal, Financial Times, Business Today, and Economic Times. He is passionate about rural electrification and energy security through clean energy sources.

Inderpreet graduated from the Haas School of Business at UC Berkeley and has a Bachelors in Electronics Engineering from G.N.D.U, Punjab.

As Chief Marketing Officer, Bryan leads the Suniva Marketing and Business Development Team throughout the U.S. and worldwide. Bryan formed and implemented Suniva's worldwide go-to-market strategy, company branding, sales strategy, and sales team during 2008 and 2009. Bryan also instituted and led Suniva's significant participation in the emerging Indian and European PV markets.

Prior to Suniva, Bryan was Director of Industry Marketing worldwide for the $3bn-plus Information Management division of the IBM Corporation's Software Group. He led teams that managed both industry and sector marketing strategy/messaging, as well as the transition to cross industry "CIO" and an industry specific "Line of Business" -focused marketing messaging framework. Before IBM, Bryan was the Chief Marketing Officer/V.P. of Marketing and Business Development for DWL Software, based in Atlanta and Toronto. DWL was the recognized thought leader and pioneer in creating the customer data integration (CDI) software space; DWL was acquired by IBM in September of 2005.

Bryan has also held positions as V.P. of Marketing; V.P. of Business Development; V.P./Director of Strategic Alliances; Managing Director of Sales, E/ME/A, and V.P. of Product Marketing at various companies, including Infinium Software (Software 2000); Talus/Manugistics; Ariba; Witness Systems, and DSI Inc. (co-founder). Bryan began his career in sales at IBM in the late 1970s, and gained significant product marketing and development experience in IBM's Rochester lab in the mid-to- late 1980s as a market manager, bringing the highly successful AS/400 product line to market.

Bryan holds degrees in Marketing and Economics from Louisiana Tech University and has completed graduate studies at the Darden School and at the Wharton School. He brings a wealth of experience in international negotiations and in building successful, motivated teams to create and implement marketing and business development strategies/tactics in international markets.

 

After working as a management consultant earlier in his career at McKinsey & Co., he co-founded the European Telecom and Media Investment Banking practice at the investment bank Salomon Brothers (now Citigroup), advising governments on privatization and entrepreneurs on entering deregulated markets, and deploying emerging  technologies such as wireless telephony and the internet. Later, at the Japanese investment bank Nomura International, Kevin founded a technology principal investment group and invested in European and US emerging technology companies. More recently, while working on his PhD in Energy Policy at Imperial College,  he founded Nur Energie, and serves on the board of NUR-MOH Heliothermal SA, Nur’s joint venture with Motor Oil Hellas in Greece. 

While at Anheuser-Busch InBev, Laurent also served as On-Trade Commercial Director France tasked with a thorough turnaround of the horeca business. Laurent has a Master’s Degree in Business Administration from Solvay Business School (cum laude) and an MBA from INSEAD (with Honours). Laurent is fluent in French, Dutch, English, Portuguese, Spanish and Italian.

In 2002, Martin Billhardt joined the Plambeck Holding AG, Cuxhaven, where he was responsible for setting up a Private Equity Fund in Switzerland. In 2004, he was appointed to the Management Board of PNE WIND AG (formerly known as Plambeck Neue Energien AG) and since 01 July 2008, he has been the Chief Executive Officer of this Company.

His responsibilities include Company and Project Finance, Sales, Business Development – National and International, Investor and Public Relations, Human Resources and Shareholdings.
During his time at PNE WIND AG he focuses the company on its core business wind farm developing and started the international expansion.

He was formally a Management Consultant responsible for delivery of business improvement and project management improvement projects for several global organisations.

Martin has a degree in Engineering. He worked for an Italian Engineering Company in Rome before joining Ove Arup & Partners where he was responsible for the delivery of several high profile projects in the UK, Italy, Spain and Asia. He speaks Italian and Spanish.

He has written several papers on Project Management and is one of the authors of the Wiley Guide to Project Management. He also features on the NBS learning channel presenting on project management.

He developed the LDA Environment Strategy, an action plan for London’s transition to the Low Carbon Economy and the Energy Efficiency and Energy Supply Programmes – designed to deliver carbon savings at scale in London. He has spoken at several high profile events including COP15 climate summit in Copenhagen and the Vancouver Winter Games on how we can unlock finance into Cities to enable the transition to the Low Carbon Economy.

 

Paddy is focused on enabling GE customers to generate, move and consume energy more efficiently and is working on the development of smarter grids across Europe to cope with the challenges of the 21st Century.

He is also Chairman of Smart Grid Ireland, a not for profit advocacy body covering both Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland. Paddy was a co-founder of this organization that has a twin track mission to articulate common issues that impact smart grid deployment in both jurisdictions. Smart Grid Ireland has produced White Papers on the case for the accelerated investment in the smart grid and the resultant economic benefits.

His 35-year business career includes senior management roles in BT and Fujitsu Telecom Europe. In this latter role he was country leader for Ireland for 10 years with responsibility for their European Operations strategy development. He has extensive international business development experience including 5 years as the VP of Sales and Marketing for a US owned VC start up in the medical device industry. In this role he was also the Chair of the trade association Bio Business NI.

Paddy has been an active member of several national working groups as part of Government task forces in the telecoms and medical device sectors. Paddy is regularly featured in the European Business Press and invited to represent GE at discussion panels or as a speaker at energy industry events.

As well as being a professional investor, Paul is a Founder and Director of two university spin out companies: Quantasol Limited which manufactures high concentration solar cells, was a spin out from Imperial College; and Si-Light Technologies Limited, which is developing a silicon laser, was a spin out from Surrey University.  He is a regular conference speaker including last year’s Cleantech Summit in London.  He has a Degree in Production Engineering from Strathclyde University and a Diploma in Japanese and Business Studies.

Penny is also a lay member of the Professional Regulation Committee of the Actuarial Profession.

She has over thirty years of experience in working with the finance sector, including over fifteen years on sustainability and corporate responsibility issues. She has been a member of the Mayor of London's Sustainable Development Commission and spent twenty years in the computer industry assisting financial services and other companies.

 

Peter joined ABB as Network Solutions Manager, bringing 20 years of electricity industry experience from Scottish Power. He is currently involved in the engineering design of UK grid code compliant renewables transmission connections, UK transmission system reinforcements, HVDC Interconnectors and UK Smart Grid Technologies.

After graduating with a degree in Computer Engineering from City University, London, Pilgrim began his career in Oxford, designing computer boards for Solid State Logic.

After six years working in Silicon Valley in the 1990's for the likes of Atari and Chromatic Research (now AMD), in 1999 Pilgrim headed back to his home town of Cambridge. Here he founded two companies: activeRF Ltd. and antenova Ltd.

He is a member of the Program Board of the Sustainable Investment research programme funded by MISTRA, the Swedish government environmental research agency; the Advisory Board of the World Resources Institute’s Envest programme; and the Advisory Group to the Chair in Socially Responsible Investment at the Ecole Polytechnique, Paris, and the University of Toulouse.  From 2000 to 2006 he was Head of Corporate Engagement at Henderson Global Investors, London.  From 1989 to 2000 he was a policy analyst for various environmental and international development NGOs.

As Managing Director of Infonic, he raised venture capital financing from Herald Ventures, developed and then sold the company to Corpora plc, a UK publicly listed company, where he was appointed as Group Strategy Director. Roy has a scientific background, having obtained an Honours degree in natural sciences from Cambridge University. Following university, Roy joined Goldman Sachs International where he worked for several years.

During this period he worked on 17 investments in healthcare and technology companies. Sam then founded Curzon Park Capital in 2009 the general partner for the Sustainable Technology Partnership, a UK focused Cleantech Venture Fund. Sam is currently on the board of AWS Ecoplastics, Europe’s largest plastic bottle recycler.

Prior to founding Pulsar Energy Capital, Mr Kingsbury advised 3i on a number of renewable energy transaction opportunities in Europe including the EUR 170m acquisition of Gamesa Energy Services (“GES”) from Gamesa in Spain. Following the successful completion of the GES acquisition, Mr. Kingsbury joined the Board of GES and has helped the company grow to be the leading international provider of construction, operations and maintenance services to the renewable power business. GES is now active in over 17 countries and has installed almost 10% of the global onshore wind capacity.

Prior to his time advising 3i, Mr Kingsbury was Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Centrica Plc’s retail power business in Texas where he was responsible for managing a business which grew profitably during his tenure from revenues of $100 million to over $1.5 Billion. Mr Kingsbury has also lead a number of renewable energy investments and been active in wind development over the last 8 years.

Mr Kingsbury spent the first 10 years of his career with Shell International developing and managing businesses within the gas and power sector in Africa, SE Asia, the U.S. and London where he was responsible for the development of Shell’s global gas and power strategy. Mr. Kingsbury is both a British and Irish citizen and holds a BA in Business from the University of Ulster.

During his sixteen years at Charterhouse Simon was involved in all forms of investment from venture to expansion capital and from small MBO's to large LBO's.  Prior to that Simon worked as a Senior Engineer with Air Products Inc the US gases group.  Simon has a BSc in Chemical Engineering and an MBA from Cranfield.

Siobhan was previously in the Power Group at RBS where she originated and led a number of transactions in renewable energy and the more general power market. Siobhan has extensive structured finance experience having worked for over 14 years in power and renewable finance. Recent renewable deals in which Siobhan has played a lead role include the €1.3bn International Power Maestrale transaction in Italy. This was the purchase from Trinergy of an operating wind portfolio comprising assets in the German and Italian wind market. Siobhan led the initial bridge acquisition financing and subsequent refinancing. Siobhan also led the development of Photovoltaic and Solar Thermal finance within RBS. This led to a number of transactions being undertaken in the Spanish and US markets for sponsors such as Forlasa, Fotowatio and Acciona. In addition, Siobhan was the lead banker for RBS’ role as MLA in the Sicily Waste to Energy projects sponsored by Falck. She also led the financing of the Gort Windfarm project in Ireland sponsored by ESBi, which represents the largest wind farm financed in the Irish market to date.

The renewables team in HSBC are currently active on a number of financing mandates, including acting as MLA for an offshore wind portfolio in the UK, acting as procuring advisor for the Tarfaya 300MW wind project in Morocco, MLA on the Zorlu 135Mw wind IPP in Turkey, several high profile arranging mandates within China as well as a number of mandates in PV and Solar Thermal in the Iberian market. On the M&A side the bank is acting as advisor on a number of active processes including in the solar equipment sector, solar PV as well as offshore wind.

Siobhan has a degree in history and also holds an MBA, specialising in Finance.

Before his time at Aker, Säuberlich was a management board member responsible for finance, financial controlling, legal affairs and IT of Scandlines in Rostock. Prior to that he was the head of equity holdings of DB Cargo, where he participated in numerous major transactions and mergers.

At Read-Rite Corporation as Director, Manufacturing and then at Akashic Memories Corporation as Vice President, Manufacturing Operations, Stephen was responsible for developing and integrating thin film technologies essential to the growth of the disk drive in data storage. Throughout this period of expansion, Mr. Barry led the search for low-cost manufacturing solutions through technological innovation, process automation and efficiency improvements as well as contract and offshore manufacturing. As President and CEO of Perisale Corporation and later as owner of MESA Consulting, Mr. Barry was directly responsible for the planning, start-up and ramp-up of high volume manufacturing plants throughout the world.

He joined the company after an 18 year career in the IT industry and since his arrival, has led Landis+Gyr’s charge to accelerate the success of the UK’s smart energy programme. Steve brings with him a proven track record of establishing and driving the delivery of landmark industry programmes, as well as an in-depth understanding of the commercial, operational and technical challenges faced by such complex industry transformations – experience that has already proven key to clarifying and pushing the Smart debate forward in the UK and Ireland.

Stuart is also Chairman of the Nikko AME Global Investment Committee, which brings together investment personnel from all overseas offices to formulate the global investment strategy.  Prior to joining Nikko AME, Stuart was Managing Director and Chief Investment Director at LTCB Foreign and Colonial Management, having held fund management positions in both Foreign and Colonial and the LTCB Foreign Joint Venture. Stuart began his career at Morgan Stanley. He graduated with a first- class degree in Economics from the London School of Economics in 1986.

Tellef co-ordinates the activities in Northzone's offices, as well as being active with Northzone's new investments and portfolio companies. Tellef was instrumental in the foundation of the Norwegian Venture Capital Association and acted as its first Chairman. He has also served as Director of both EVCA and the Swedish Venture Capital Associations.

Prior to Northzone, Tellef took part in the founding of Western Bulk Shipping AS, a, he remembers, truly global company, which he then took public as a CFO. Before this, he held the position as company secretary of another shipping and investment company - I.M. Skaugen.

Tellef holds a M.Sc. in Business Administration from the Norwegian School of Economics and a M.Sc. (Econ) from London School of Economics (1988).

Tellef serves as Chairman of the board of Mamut ASA, Revolt Technology AS, Chapdrive AS and Solar Cell Repower AS. Tellef is also a Director of Silex AB and at the University of Oslo's Technology Transfer Office (Birkeland Innovasjon AS), The Voxtra Foundation, and a member of EVCA's Investor Relations committee..

Previously Tim spent 5 years at SmartestEnergy where he was responsible for all power purchase activities within the United Kingdom and over 4 years at British Energy. Tim joined British Energy in 2000, having previously established a small-scale CHP business at BG Group. Tim has a BEng, MSc and a PhD in "The Catalytic Combustion of Natural Gas" from the University of Leeds.

Todd has 15 years of corporate financing experience, raising debt and equity financing, advising on mergers & acquisitions and principal investing. Prior to joining Standard Chartered, Todd has worked with Morgan Stanley, Credit Suisse First Boston and Donaldson, Lufkin & Jenrette in London, Hong Kong and Los Angeles.

Todd has an AB degree from Harvard College.

Tom has advised local and national figures from the White House to the City of Los Angeles. He recently was Team Co-lead of the Executive Office of the President's Transition Team focused on the White House Council on Environmental Quality (CEQ) for President Barack Obama. In December 2009, Tom participated in President Obama's White House Summit on Jobs, and presented his position on how clean technology could contribute to the country's economic recovery. Tom was also President Clinton's appointee to the Border Environmental Cooperation Commission which oversaw and insured that the environmental component of the North American Free Trade Agreement was adhered to, and that the financial resources committed to these concerns were available through the multi-billion dollar North American Development Bank (NADBank). He was recently selected by Hispanic Business Magazine as one of 2010's One Hundred Most Influential Hispanics in the United States.

Tom is a Director for the following Craton companies: EnLink GeoEnergy, GridPoint, Liquid Environmental Solutions, Principle Energy Limited and Propel BioFuels.
